Emergency services, how can I redirect your call? Police, fire or ambulance?
- Police! I'm putting you through now, just a moment. This is City Police Department, how can I help? - He's shooting everyone! Who's shooting everyone? - He's about 5'10", wearing a black… Let me stop you right there. We here at the CPD have a strict policy of no suspect descriptions. Witness testimony is inherently flawed and prone to error, not to mention bias. Furthermore, traumatic events have been shown to change over time through recollection bias meaning any statements created in the heat of the moment are likely to alter and can therefore not be trusted. Are there any objective facts that you can provide me? - There are people on the ground! Dead or dying! Now, now. There's no need to raise your voice, I'm just trying to help. But we can't help the dead, and dying people are under the purview of the paramedics. As to your previous claim that, and these are your words not mine, “he’s shooting everyone”, I just had a quick look around the department and I can assure you that no one is being shot here. And that makes you a liar. The only crimes I can be certain of are the ones I see with my own eyes. We follow an ethic of natural justice. We do not seek out crime, rather respond to crimes as they occur before us - whereupon it is natural for us to make an arrest. Our system has vastly reduced the numbers of documented crimes, and our arrest rate is impeccable. We’ve eradicated cases of wrongful arrest. Furthermore, we, as police officers, have never been more safe while serving in the line of duty. You would be surprised how many people, much like yourself, lie to us in order to serve their own ends - often attempting to endanger the lives of the very officers they pretend to be asking for help. - … Hello? Must not have been serious if they’ve given up so easily.
