It’s draining taking care of one who doesn’t seem to care
Forgetting or forgoing things that tried to reinforce Seeks excuses to excuse the consequential fare Each failure stumbled down with less and less remorse The better act may be to be, the harder to commit The further out rewards remain, easier dismissed Patience for the actions failed or falsely to omit Wearing thin at a pace with the will to still persist Can try to point to show what could have better done Habits propped up, stopped up, for desires to achieve Improvements already made if only had begun Present wants have in hand if past would just believe Excuses, reasons, rationale falls on callous ears Empathy non-renewable, emptied all reserves Lies cannot parse when the liar is who hears The self both cared and caring believes what got deserves
