All through life was trained to hide
The best that’s done, to stifle pride Shunned and mocked if dare to share Of doing well, be rude to care Rude to view as better than Put others down in prove what can A thumb in all an others eyes By speaking of acclaiming prize So wandered on a precipice Afraid to show, afraid to miss Afraid of bragging dragging shame That bluffing fills the bidding game Needing others call the bluff Self-deprecating clear enough Another takes the bragging reigns To sell the story shame restrains Explicit questions needed ask To force unhumble truths to task All victories be beaten down The humble none may claim the crown
