Most things in life we can’t be sure
What not to trust, what to ignore We try to find the better source From where our knowledge travels forth Which parts are true we can accept From what is false safe to reject Yet true and false are hard to split As viewers in our lifelong skit What we see, what eyes attest Our brain will mold to what fits best Forming frames our own illusion Fictions found to ease confusion There is no time to see each scene Too much to process, more to glean All we sense and all we feel What shapes our thoughts not what is real Should we trust our biased sense With ease of thought at truth’s expense While knowing what we see is tweaked How best to have our world critiqued? Without sight and without sound Without our sense to guide around What left is there within our place That marks the world, defines our space All we have, our brains have made A docudrama live displayed A thrilling fiction it presents Mostly based on true events And since it is our only source The only view our minds endorse We have no choice but treat as true The one world we were born to view
