As I try to watch us at our best,
I’m drowned in at our worst Each second in a contest In a race for coming first Battle ‘tween the athletes And the advertising time A balance bought in balance sheets The squeeze for every dime Somewhere someone making choice For which event is seen For which athlete is given voice Or shown upon the screen Too much matched to muddy up The message sports tries show Fast food tries to buddy up While gambling reaps the sow Pedestals raised up to compete That corporate builds with greed Total expectations mete To more than can succeed So many seeing every prize A pressure debt set pay Multiplied a million eyes Four years down to a day
