Life is a struggle to stay where we are
A balancing act on an imperfect bar On a line fraught with quivering, shudder and shake To test our resolve to the point it will break Three ways to respond to the noise in the line To the vibrating song on a tuning fork tine The first is to fight it, to smother the sound To muffle and mute, through strength it be bound Once battle engaged, the rope will fight back Waves smaller come faster, to tighten from slack To flow is the second, to move with the song Submit to the movement, be carried along This clinging to hope, held to ride out the wave To take as is taken, equal give as to gave Finally, more, is the last act to opt To give more than flows, so the wave to adopt Controlling by pushing to larger vibrations Longer and slower and known perturbations No one is best for all tests on the way Each has its place for the trial of the day To weather the walk, fit to use each and all Keeping balance in tact for avoiding the fall Though we don’t know how long on the line we will cope Each step brings us closer the end of the rope
