Attention spans are dwindling, too hard to stay engaged
Trained to seek distraction from the entertainment staged Seen be watching TV shows while browsing on a phone Too much to miss, too little time, too connected to alone Distraction grown beyond itself, dissociation blooms The life lived trapped inside itself, seeks out beyond its rooms Anything that it is not it dreams that it may be Consuming to forget the self becoming all to see To seek escape from everywhere, never to be free Caged within each moment in the place where next to flee Afraid that time will find all those that stay to take a break Running with all blinders on, far too much at stake Nothing is as perfect as those lives that no one lives The grooming lies that fake a life that truth never forgives Displayed in tailored shopfronts meant to sell the lie as truth Market most at those whose work has built the mythic booth A portrait of the best designed to claim the highest shelf Creating an illusion that fakes purpose to itself An emptiness then fills the space the lies have built to frame To once again be running from the nothing none can tame Gorge upon diversion, drowning in what to consume Afeared of ever stopping knowing nothing will resume Predator upon all heels if thought should catch a hold Ignorance amused a means the dread to be console
